Sony Goes WWAN

Hotspots have allowed people to use their computers outside of home and office and have gained much popularity over the last few years. But the mobility they provide is still very limited: although unwired, computer users are still confined to the radius of a hotspot and laptops are still not nearly as mobile as cell phones.

This is all about to change with the launch of Sony's ultra-portable VAIO T-Series notebooks. This is the first line of notebook PCs with integrated high-speed wireless wide area network (WWAN) technology. Sony has partnerd with Cingular Wireless on this innovative integration. Because the ability to connect over cellular signals is included, T-Series users can connect wherever their cell-phone has a signal.

Enterprise Solutions Webinar Series

With wireless analysts predicting that two-thirds of all U.S. employees will be mobile by 2006, the CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus (WIC) Enterprise Action Team, a consortium of leading wireless carriers and mobile data vendors, is launching an aggressive, enterprise-focused educational program to help spur the adoption of wireless data solutions.

In support of the educational program, CTIA's Wireless Internet Caucus and Mobile Enterprise Magazine have implemented an Alliance Partnership agreement to launch a series of instructional Webinars focused on specific market segments and to create an online forum through which enterprises can more easily and effectively evaluate wireless data solutions.
