Zagat Goes Blackberry

Zagat Survey, in partnership with Handmark, has announced the launch of ZAGAT TO GO, a mobile version of Zagat Survey’s restaurant and nightlife guides made exclusively for BlackBerry users. In addition to comprehensive ratings and rankings for 24,000 spots in 71 different cities, ZAGAT TO GO offers a variety of BlackBerry optimized features including wireless content updates, detailed street-level maps, and turn-by-turn driving directions to desired destinations.

“ZAGAT TO GO puts the most reliable and up-to-date information from Zagat Survey guides at your fingertips,” said Nina Zagat, co-founder of Zagat Survey. “For food and entertainment lovers, ZAGAT TO GO for BlackBerry is like having an electronic library of entertainment resources right in your purse or pocket.”

Presented in the trusted Zagat Survey format, ZAGAT TO GO delivers a comprehensive collection of survey-based guides to cities such as London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, Tokyo, Washington D.C. and dozens more. Restaurant and nightlife reviews and information on ZAGAT TO GO are presented by neighborhood, cuisine and special features with ratings provided for food quality, decor, service and cost. In addition, data is searchable according to the user’s needs, making it easy to find the perfect place for any occasion or interest.

The subscription-based ZAGAT TO GO service is available immediately at a special online download price of $24.95 per year from both Zagat Survey (http://mobile.zagat.com) and Handmark (www.handmark.com) Web sites. A full-featured, two-week free trial version is available and allows users to evaluate the software prior to purchase. The Zagat content available on Blackberry would normally cost over $600 (for nearly 50 books).

“With the release of ZAGAT TO GO for BlackBerry, Handmark extends our commitment to bringing trusted, must-have titles to the most wanted new wireless devices,” said Douglas Edwards, Handmark co- founder and executive VP. “Anyone for whom quality entertainment is important, from frequent business travelers to restaurant lovers and leisure travelers, will find ZAGAT TO GO an indispensable addition to their Blackberry.”

Wireless Access/Automatic Updates: Since ZAGAT TO GO content for BlackBerry is accessed wirelessly, subscribers can access any guide at any time and are always accessing the latest content. In addition, most recently viewed listings are stored automatically for easy repeat access.

Full Color Maps: Two of the most useful features in the BlackBerry version of ZAGAT TO GO are the Map and Directions features. After choosing any establishment, simply select “Map” from the menu to see the destination plotted on a detailed street map; by selecting “Directions To” and entering your present address, turn-by-turn directions are displayed.
