Large Deployment Honorable Mention: Rooting Out the Problem

Let’s be honest here, folks. Everyone has experienced clogged plumbing at some point in their life. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It happens to all of us. And when it does, Hoffman Southwest, the largest Roto-Rooter franchisee in the country, is ready to help.

Headquartered in Mission Viejo, Calif., Hoffman Southwest’s Roto-Rooter business provides residential and commercial plumbing and drain cleaning. The company operates 13 offices in five states and employs more than 500 people. With over 400 field technicians on the road serving hundreds of residences, businesses and municipalities daily, Hoffman decided it needed a solution to revolutionize its fleet operations. The company sought out a fleet management solution with vehicle location and diagnostics to improve the dispatching/routing of its vehicles, the reconciliation of timesheets with actual hours worked and vehicle maintenance and procurement.

“With a little bit of trial and error, we found Networkcar,” says Monte Yoder, VP of finance and administration at Hoffman. “Networkcar brought a lot to the table—standard items that we would have had to do backend work to get from other suppliers.”

Networkfleet from Networkcar plugs directly into each vehicle’s diagnostic port and provides a plethora of vehicle information such as location, speed, mile-
age and more.

Hoffman rolled out Networkcar’s GPS solution to its fleet and is very happy with the results. “Managers are ecstatic. One of the great attributes is that it’s Web based, so managers can access vehicle information anywhere, anytime,” says Yoder.

With Networkfleet, Hoffman has realized over 150 percent ROI, makes 10 percent more sales/service calls per week, decreased speeding infractions by 10 percent and increased profits by $200,000 per year.•
