AmberWave Systems, a company that supplies strained silicon technology, has filed a suit against chip manufacturing giant Intel Corp (INTC.NAS) alleging that the latter has infringed on its strained silicon patents. The company has also filed a counter claim against Intel in a federal district court in Wilmington.

The lawsuits filed by AmberWave Systems relate to two techniques developed by the company to enhance the performance of various semiconductor devices. The company has alleged that Intel has incorporated these techniques into its Pentium processors. The company said that it was forced to take legal action when Intel refused to negotiate a license agreement. Intel has, however, refuted the claims made by AmberWave Systems.
