WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WEW), a leading fleet management service provider, has been awarded a contract to provide location-based and fleet Telematics products and services to Canadian Pacific Railway intermodal carriers across Canada. Operating over Rogers Wireless's (TSX:RCM.RV.B) robust GSM/GPRS network, the largest integrated voice and data network in Canada, WebTech Wireless will provide CPR's intermodal fleet carriers access to real-time fleet management services. These include location data and two-way messaging for paperless reporting.
"WebTech Wireless's system easily integrates with other applications while delivering key mapping, reporting, telemetry and messaging functions. Our solution is intended to be an integral component of CPR's centralized dispatching system and, as such, has to meet strict product fleet Telematics products and services requirements," said Anwar Sukkarie, President and CEO, WebTech Wireless. "We're very pleased CPR has decided to deploy WebTech's solution across Canada."
"WebTech has the ability to deliver products and services to organizations with large fleets and sophisticated technical and business requirements," said Neil Chan, Senior Vice-president, Business Development, WebTech Wireless. "Our ability in this area can help address North American and International intermodal opportunities."
WebTech's agreement with CPR involves eight intermodal fleet carriers across Canada. It sets out the technical and pricing standards for the carriers, allowing the carriers to offer more competitive logistics and trucking services. Requirements include two-way messaging, Telematics, device portability (eliminating the need for assigned vehicles) and interfacing to a new suite of logistics applications to be introduced in the second quarter of 2005. System deployment is scheduled to commence in February 2005.
