Pocket Safe

SonicWALL has developed a secure, encrypted wireless access product that runs easily from the comfort of your pocket. Like a pocket VPN, Pocket GVC is an easy-to-use security solution for Pocket PC devices.
With Pocket GVC, SonicWALL addresses the growing need for PocketPC devices using 802.11 for secure access to wireless networks. Pocket GVC supports WAN, PPP and GPRS adapters. Other features include a customized user interface with log viewer, pop-up notification of VPN tunnel status, support for NAT-03 and virtual adapter support for controlled access to internal network resources. Price: Starts at $50 for one user.

Electric Avenue

Working from the road is only as convenient as your wireless tools. Saratoga Systems wants road warriors to have access to the data most important to their business: customer data. And so it created iAvenue Wireless for secure mobile connectivity to enterprise in-
formation, such as Saratoga Systems' iAvenue CRM suite and most back-office databases. iAvenue is available on any Web-enabled
wireless device. Price: $300 a seat.

Communications Web

The WebTech 5000 Locator from WebTech Wireless provides real-time vehicle tracking, Internet access, messaging and e-mail, with support for all four bands of the GSM network. The device is also a GPS reporting tool, with store and forward capability, multiple geofences and optional internal batteries for anti-theft/anti-tamper applications. In a smaller form factor than the 4000, the 5000 has four standard telemetry ports (two input and two output) housed in a sleek and rugged polycarbonate case. Price: N/A.

On-the-Go Documents

Trying to lug your office printer around on your back is no way to print on the go, besides being heavy and cumbersome most printers are not designed for the rough and rocky ride of the road. Luckily, Fujitsu’s new semi-rugged, mobile thermal printer is. The FTP-628WSL110 printer is designed to withstand a 1.5m drop test, is water resistant and has an operating temperature range of -5 C to over 50 C. It’s Bluetooth-enabled, for wireless printing and supports both serial and IrDA input. It weighs 0.61 pounds including battery and paper. Price: $480.
